Beautiful home on private 20 acre Sally Stanford Ranch

Cottage, 2 Bedroom, 2 Bath with Mountain Views (Sleeps 4)

The Valhalla Cottage is located one hour north of San Francisco nestled on a 20 acre private ranch off of Scenic Hwy 12 in Kenwood, CA. Our late Aunt, Sally Stanford, purchased the ranch in 1961 as a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of San Francisco. She was San Francisco's most famous Madame and Sausalito's former Mayor. We named this rental Valhalla as a tribute to her restaurant in Sausalito. The cottage is located right in the heart of Sonoma County wine country in an area that is well known as the Valley of the Moon.

SO Relaxing and Beautiful

“We had the best time at the Sally Stanford Ranch (Valhalla). We didn't want to leave!!! The ranch is absolutely beautiful - the land is breathtaking! We had our 2 young boys with us (age 2 and 1). They loved the ranch as much as we did. They had plenty of room to run on the ranch, and the house was very kid-friendly. This is by far our favorite VRBO rental. It had everything we needed. They even had a bottle of wine, cheese and goodies at the house when we got there. The house was very clean, nice and spacious. We were amazed by the amount of space. We had family visit us while we were there and everyone loved it. Even family members living in Sonoma said they might rent this place for a vacation because it was so beautiful and relaxing. It was hard to say goodbye - we will come back for a longer visit next time!!!"

Far exceeded expectations

“I know the Sonoma County area very well so did a lot of research to find a place that would be comfortable for three singles for two weeks. Valhalla exceeded our expectations in every way. It is close to Santa Rosa and Sonoma but situated in a country like setting right off Sonoma Highway. It was quiet and peaceful, affording a view of the surrounding mountains and local wildlife. The house itself is simple but spacious and very well maintained. It has both a front and back porch, one perfect for morning coffee and the other for family dinners. The welcome package was perfect--wine, cheese, flowers, coffee, cereal, milk and other niceties. It was completely stocked with paper products, extra pillows and towels along with shampoo and soap. The onsite owner, Judy, was very pleasant and accommodating, attending to our requests without interfering with our visit. She also told us the history of the property and Sally Stanford, a San Francisco celebrity with a colorful bio. As far as we concerned, this is THE place to stay for an extended visit. We will definitely be back.”

Quiet retreat after wine tasting

“What a marvelous place to stay! When we arrived we found a beautiful bouquet of flowers on the table, a bottle of wine and a clean and spacious home. The cupboards and refrigerator were stocked with all of the necessities, including cereal, crackers, cheese and individual containers of milk. A very nice touch when you make it there after a long day of travel! We really enjoyed the great room with the lovely view of the mountains and the outdoor area for dinners and taking in a glass or two of wine while enjoying the beautiful majestic scenery. In addition, both the beds and the couches were very comfortable and the area was quiet. This charming vintage home will be on our list of places to stay for many years to come.”
